We are already get used to be surprised by COS with the flower of art and design in his collaborations for Salone del Mobile during the Milan Design Week that this year is celebrated from the 4 to the 9 of April.
This time the collaboration with Studio Swine is formalized in “new spring”, a multisensory installation that, as the creative director of COS, Karin Gustafsson says, condenses the common values of the brand with the creative duo: the interest of timelessness over trends, functionality with beauty, and the exploration of materials. The COS x Studio Swine installation explores a recurring theme of the work of the artists as it is the relationship between industrialization and natural resources in the context of globalization. They do this by creating ephemeral matter of pure natural beauty through a device of industrial origin and aspect.
According to the creators the inspiration for the COS x Studio Swine installation is the nature and the changing of the seasons
“For us, this idea has such universal beauty. We aim to create a democratic experience which brings people togheter.”
More with Less will travel from his home in Valencia to Milan to watch COS x Studio Swine work, which will be exhibited at the Cinema Arti, an inactive theater from the 1930s, to reaffirm the feelings transmitted by the teaser. To see how those bubbles full of emotions resist our artificial garments but they vanish on contact with the skin.
Studio Swine is formed by the British artist Alexander Grooves and the Japanese architect Azusa Murakami and they are the sixth collaboration of the refined brand for Milan Design Week. They have had to make the grade to maintain the high bar that last year set Sou Fujimoto with Forest of Light in the same space and in 2015 Snarkitecture, that turned the Spazio Erbe into a cavernous fabric retreat.
