Many of the materials we see nowadays are produced by big companies. We can’t do these materials at home lack of equipment and sometimes for lack of knowledge. But there are many other materials that can be easily done with everyday products and have a very low market price. Who does not use paper, water and sugar everyday? Well, with these three ingredients you can do many things, such as Bowl project by Nina Kaul.
Nina studies interior design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (Saale), Germany. Bowl was done within the project Paper made, where students had to make objects made out of paper, or at least paper should play an important role in the object.
Paper, sugar and water = Bowl
Once the paper, sugar and water pulp is done, Nina Kaul introduces the material into a mold. After the drying process the surface feels as hard as plastic. The outface has the rough haptics of paper, the inside is as smooth as glass and shiny.
The different ingredients waste-paper, cellulose and carbon black pigments make three different Bowl types, white, grey and black. This project has us excited and inspired so much, and we hope you also get inspired for your future projects. Thanks Nina!
