This Bridgevest office, the Dutch Financial tech firm, has been relocated from the centre of Rotterdam to Veerhaven, in South Holland. This space formerly used as a bank in the 1890’s, has been transformed by Studio Tomorrow into a new office space.
The real beauty of this ensemble is not simply the way Studio Tomorrow has kept the sublime, original, architectural details, but how they’ve added contemporary elements to them.
The design shows an artistic appreciation of the past and a strong association to the future. “We dig in the past, gather today, and draw conclusions towards the future. Besides having an eye for aesthetics and beauty, dignity lies in the manner we treat our materials with respect,” the studio said.
“To come to a good design for the Bridgevest Office we give space to serendipity and letting intuition decide which way to go on one hand,” the designers said.
They have done it with evenness, keeping the original ingredients and giving them space to breathe whilst incorporating elements that are clear statements of contemporary design.
Lightning is one of the greatest examples. They have taken the superfine LED lighting from Vibia, which becomes one of the starring elements.
For the lighting to be one of the main characters of this space means the rest of the space has been designed so simply and elegantly, that the lighting is allowed to take centre stage.
But it’s not just the beautiful lightning pendants that make this space so aesthetically captivating. The colour palette makes the second perfect ingredient. A soft salmon that steps on the white paint, the pale green offices and the baby blue concrete flooring. Looks like pastel is a hard colourway to pull off without a space feeling too feminine and soft, but here it allows the original architecture shine.
