Hsk house is a single family home in Ota-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Architecture studio no.555 (number fives architectural design office) has carried out all the construction process. From the first intentions, the instinctive sketches that emerge from the environment to the management and completion of the work. This is not an irrelevant fact at all, because all the construction process is detailed in a photographic chronicle written and published by the architects themselves.
Located at the top of a hill, and on a cliff edge, it can be seen from below, a volume made of wood, that leans out between the treetops. The silhouette of this glazer, reminds at first sight, the simple trace that summarizes ina few lines the concretion of a typical house. The rest of the metalic facade is slightly drawn, fading away in the blue sky.
Hsk house, diversifies with design, a simple geometry
The Hsk house project is configured as a rigid, pure and compact volume. The Hsk house project is configured as a rigid, pure and compact volume that designs the figure of the traditional house with sloping roof. A subtraction in the bottom of the facade gives place to the access and diagonally opposite a balcony is extracted from the interior of the house, reproducing the overall geometry on a smaller scale. Somehow it reminds the nest of birds on the branch of a tree.
The house is implanted in the ground, is extended along the longitudinal axis and vertically grows two floors and a loft. It is possible to deduce due to furniture and the sizes of the spaces, that private areas are located in the second and third floor. However the project is designed so that its functionality will depend on the destination the user wants to give.
Hsk house, is built with a limited number of materials. The constructive system, and structural elements are treated in the same way as the partition walls, flooring, the frames of windows and doors, and even some of the walls. A thin and light staircase circulates unnoticed by the three storeys. Each architectural component of this work, reproduces in its own language, sings of the overall geometry. There is a correlation between inside and outside, a great diversity in the character, which gives continuity to the simplicity of the initial lines. The clarity in the tone of wood and the White walls, allows that only with a pair of openings, the light flods every nook of the house.
The general appearance presented in Hsk house, seems unfinished, decoration has not yet entered in their rooms. This situation enables to appreciate the flexibility of use in every space, likely to be disposed, divided and characterized for who may dwell there.
