The Mexican studio Esrawe creates the Vari Series, a set of ambient luminaires powered by mechanisms based on balance, touch or displacement. The origin of the project refers to a previous design, the Prima Materia collection, where pieces are developed from the compression of the materials found randomly in the commercialization formats.
The Vari Series recovers the interaction between the user and the object, making it a tactile device
The first lamp that starts the Vari Series is a lightweight device, which activates the ignition mechanism by sliding a wooden strip over a brass cylinder. This cylinder becomes the visual and structural backbone of the luminaire. Its illumination is gradual according to the sliding of the piece of walnut wood.
The Vari Series consists of four different models. All of them are activated by physical actions such as the contact of the hand on the wooden surface, the balance on a metallic cylinder or the sliding of a wheel on a wavy wooden surface.
The materials used in the Vari Series are noble materials such as bronze and walnut. The collection follows a contemporary aesthetic line of clear and strong geometric lines, and this allows it to integrate perfectly in any environment.
